The benefits of SDSL (over ADSL) are that SDSL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber
Line) offers:
- The same data rate for
both downloading and uploading.
- Potentially available
with lower contention
ratios (i.e. 5:1, 10:1
etc.) for better performance
These are currently being
trialled on a limited number
(initially 20) of exchanges
from October 2002 to run
for approximately 6 months.
No
pricing is currently available
but they are expected to
be significantly more expensive
than ADSL (due to the symmetric
data rate and lower contention
ratios).
